Our Support Workers

Support Workers are employees of Crossroads Lewis.  They are recruited on the basis of their ability to care, work or personal experience and PVG checks.  A PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) includes a criminal record check.


Every support worker receives induction training before commencing work, which includes Emergency First Aid and Moving & Handling.  Other training and supervision is ongoing, to ensure they are competent, knowledgeable and kept up to date with the latest procedures.

Usually you will have the same Support Worker at the same time each week.  When the Support Worker is absent from work e.g. holidays, we will try and find another to replace them.  We will always contact you to let you know the name of the substitute Support Worker, but if you would prefer not to receive the service from another Support Worker, you can tell us at this time.


It may not always be possible to introduce you to a substitute Support Worker before they attend due to short notice.  However, all Support Worker's are issued with Identity Badges which they carry with them.  They will show these to any person who has a right to check their identity.  Please ask to see the Identity Badge if you do not know the Support Worker.


Support Worker's are required to dress appropriately and will wear personal protective clothing when carrying out personal care.  We also expect them to be punctual and respectful.  Please contact the Manager if you wish to comment on a Support Worker.


We encourage Support Worker's to ask you if you are happy with the service or if you would like any changes to be made.  However, all changes must be agreed by the Manager.


Support Worker's are required to report to the Manager, the details of any accident or incident that occurs when providing the service, or any concerns they may have. Read more about our policies and procedures here.
